The Dream Come True

I had recently joined Twitter and someone  tweeted me with an intriguing description of a guaranteed, your money back if not satisfied, make money online program. I clicked on the link to take a peek at what was being offered. I was then introduced to the Maverick Money Makers program to achieve dramatic Internet marketing success with minimal effort.

I immediately thought that here we go again with some wild scheme with no chance of success and sales copy full of hype. However, when I reviewed the presentation and the introductory videos, I was blown away. Here was a fantastic program that taught me many valuable things just in the sales presentation that I had never come across before even though I had read widely and had participated in many coaching forums.

In the introduction Mack Michaels, the creator of the program,  presented solid and extremely useful and innovative information about what to sell, how to sell it and where to sell it. He also presented a fully worked out affiliate program for Maverick Money Makers with multiple sales strategies, banners, useful articles, adword keywords and more. The affiliate program offered recurring commissions for any members that you signed up for each month that they paid for. The testimonials also indicated that you could easily contact Mack directly.

With a money back guarantee if you didn’t make any money in 2 months, tremendous profit potential and great marketing information, it looked like a real diamond of an online money making plan.

Reality Strikes

After using the system for a while, I found that there were some flaws in the 500 karat diamond.

Video Issues

The main means of transferring information to you is by videos created by Mack Michaels, the creator of Maverick Money Makers. The videos are generally chock full of powerful and immediately useful information. However, it can be slow going getting through them. There are no transcripts or hard copy of the material that you can skim quickly. You can’t even copy the videos for offline use unless you upgrade to a VIP account which will set you back another $50 a month.

It may be worthwhile to sit through the videos so that you don’t miss any points but Mack makes no effort to reduce unnecessary time wasted in the videos. There are some examples where he starts something running and instead of cutting out the wait time, he lets it sit on the screen while you are twiddling your thumbs. He also repeats a number of simple steps too many times.

Content Shortcomings

I guess it’s necessary to get excited and pumped up to achieve the necessary motivation to get a quality program going, but some of the stuff is over hyped. Mack might say that a certain site that you can advertise on gets 500,000 hits a month and you can get a good piece of that. This doesn’t fully take into account competition. It also depends on the quality of advertising that you provide. He is right that you can get some action but somewhat less than what he projects.

He shows you how to find great websites and blogs with the customers you want to attract and how to advertise in those places, online and offline. However, when you go there yourself, you will see that very often it is saturated with ads from other Maverick Money Makers members. You have to dig somewhat deeper and lower on the totem pole to take advantage of those types of places.

He correctly identifies CBEngine as the right site to search the Clickbank affiliate network. However, his treatment of how to use it is somewhat weak.

He indicates that images are available from Google image search but he should review some of the possible copyright issues.

Strategy Slip Ups

He presents a brilliant plan for taking advantage of online groups and especially Google groups. However, when I tried it, it backfired on me badly.

He tells you that you should find a suitable group for what you want to sell and get some relevant material about it that had high ratings from Digg or Stumbleupon. He then suggests that you slip in a comment about whatever your selling as a question such as has anyone tried Fido Dog Training (which is what you are trying to sell). This apparently works for many but when I tried it, I was pounced upon for spamming.

He suggests CPA (cost per action) items as a quick way to make money since you get paid if someone clicks on a link or provides an email address and the customer does not have to shell out any money for you to get a commission. This is great but try to join a CPA network and you’ll find that it isn’t that easy.

Other Issues

You can’t talk to Mack. He may have been available early on but he can’t be reached now.

The club website has a lot of shortcomings. It is quirky and cumbersome to navigate. The latest version jumps to the top of the page after every selection forcing you scroll down from where you were. It is sometimes hard to select a choice without some very fine manipulation of your mouse.

The help and support are generally pretty good and they even have a number that you can call that is quite responsive. However, NEVER change your email address. They can’t seem to get it right. It took them 5 tries to let me change my email address and I’m still getting announcement emails to my old address. Ticket responses can be slow and may take as much as 2 days for an answer.

The affiliate program offers banners but doesn’t offer any HTML for them. It’s strictly do it yourself to copy and save the banners so that you can use them.
